The Perle Hotel Group is set to debut an inspiring writing retreat on Isle of Skye at the Bracken Hide Hotel. Taking place from 17 to 21 March, 2025, the retreat will be led by the multifaceted writer, poet and artist Laima Vince. With a focus on how landscape, nature, and folklore enrich the written word, this intimate retreat offers a rare opportunity to explore the craft of writing against the amazing backdrop of one of Scotland’s most storied landscapes.
Limited to just 15 participants, the retreat is open to both seasoned and emerging writers, with sessions tailored to all levels of experience. Genres explored include non-fiction, memoir, fiction, and poetry, with each day carefully structured to inspire creativity and connection.
Mornings begin with focused workshops designed to highlight the interplay between environment and storytelling. Writers will learn how Skye’s natural beauty and rich tapestry of myths can infuse their work with depth and atmosphere. Afternoons offer the freedom to write, reflect or explore, whether in solitude or alongside fellow participants.
As evening falls, the group gathers to share and critique each other’s work in a supportive setting. Dinner, served at Bracken Hide’s acclaimed Am Braigh restaurant, showcases Skye’s culinary treasures, from freshly grilled langoustines to whisky-cured salmon, Highland oysters, and mussels plucked from nearby Loch Eishort. After dining, participants can share their writing in open-mic sessions designed to hone performance skills.

Accommodation is provided in Bracken Hide’s charming hillside lodges, or “Hides,” which offer sweeping views of lochs and mountains across a 52-acre estate. Workshops take place in the hotel’s central hub, “The Bracken,” home to an inviting whisky and cocktail bar and a stylish Mezzanine Lounge. For those seeking a moment of relaxation, the retreat also features Estonian sauna pods and a wild plunge pool to rejuvenate body and mind.
For those yearning to immerse themselves in Skye’s rugged beauty and weave its ancient tales into their writing, this retreat promises inspiration, camaraderie, and the chance to create something truly special.
